Dance to GIVE is an innovative collaboration bringing together talented young dancers and musicians from the various dance and music schools in Melbourne committed in supporting disadvantaged people in Australia and South East Asia. Inception of GIVE was just the initial step in the journey of a thousand miles.
Dance to GIVE is a not for profit organization that has the objective to foster cultural diversity and respect through the promotion, enhancement and celebration of Indian Fine Arts in Melbourne. For over seven years Dance to GIVE has brought together dancers and musicians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and cultural practices to celebrate cultural diversity through Indian Fine Arts to support the needy children.
We all share this one world we live. We want to acknowledge this by GIVE(ing) our share to the children in need. GIVE was initiated to help impoverished children fight their way out of poverty. When it is hard to afford necessities like food, shelter and clothing; education becomes a luxury the poor are forced to give up. Illiteracy then leads to further poverty.
Young dancers and musicians from variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, England, Fiji, Greece, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Pakistan, Qatar, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zambia unite to showcase their artistic talents to GIVE these children basic needs; supporting them with fees, school supplies, footwear, transport and opportunities to enable them to achieve their full potential; also facilitate special education and vocational training to the differently-abled children and ensure they become self-sufficient and an active members of the society. Hence Dance to GIVE was born!
Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean!
